How Tires Help Keep Schoolchildren Safe

School is back in session, and during our drives to and from school, sports, and anything in between, we need to keep our children safe. This is when our tires come into play. In fact, if we properly look after our tires, we can keep our children much safer.

To help keep you and your family safe behind the wheel, here are a few simple tips in tire maintenance:

  1. Make sure you inspect your tires’ sidewall and tread. If there are unusual cuts or bulges on your tires, replace them right away. We also recommend rotating your tires every 6,000 to 8,000 miles.
  2. Inspect your tires’ pressure. It is important to take a look at your car’s tire pressure frequently. Overinflated tires drive too harshly on the road and will end up wearing unevenly. If you are unsure about how to do this, we will answer any of your questions or address any of your concerns.
  3. Try to replace all four tires at once. It can be dangerous if you replace the front two tires only, or vice versa. Replacing only the front tires increases risk of fishtailing, and replacing only the back tires increases the risk of hydroplaning.
  4. One simple thing you can do with your tires is to turn your tires all the way to the curb.
  5. At the end of the day, tires will age, no matter the steps you take to prevent it.

It is common to forget to pay attention to our tires. We have numerous things on our mind, and we can easily forget about our vehicle’s tires. However, with school upon us, we must remember to take care of our tires, especially since school is back in session. Tires are key to safety. The team at European Auto Repair would be happy to inspect your tires for you, and make sure everything is in tip-top for the school season.
